The TFOV139 was introduced as the first for  Shooting Sport and Professional – triple field of view rifle sight that continues on with ELCAN’s tradition of leading optical performance and in the field ruggedness.

The SpecterTR is a 1/3/9x magnification scope giving any shooter the appropriate level of magnification required for any scenario on an AR style platform. The unique three field-of-view design maximizes combat effectiveness by providing precision close quarter, mid-range, and long range engagement capability. The SpecterTR rifle sight’s durability, versatility, and extra-long eye relief provides the user with an unmatched advantage on the battle field.

The 1x field-of-view provides a 16° viewing angle and an extremely fast, “both eyes open” target acquisition capability maximized by a red aiming dot and at least 70mm eye relief. The second field-of-view provides a 3x-magnified sight with a field–of-view of 6°, range compensating reticle, and precision mid-range marksmanship capability. In 9x, a crystal clear 2° viewing angle provides unmatched long-range target detection, identification, and engagement capability –all in a compact, lightweight 1264 mm, 829 g (scope and mount) telescopic package.

The magnification of the SpecterTR Tri-FOV weapon sight by ELCAN switches easily and quickly using a 3-position dial mounted on the side of the optical housing.

–  Once in a while, the question comes up about why the reticle isn’t illuminated across the entire crosshair and here is ELCAN’s official reply to it.

“It’s totally normal; the reason it doesn’t show completely across the vertical axis, or uneven in some cases, is because of the dual illumination feature, (the center dot and the cross hairs illuminating independently) the reticle is never illuminated fully across the entire crosshair with the single source of light. It’s typical behavior “The DR has the dual illumination feature (dot or reticle) which is unique in the industry. One of the design aspects of this feature is a non-centered illumination of the reticle which gives these sorts of artifacts. The reticle is etched into the glass and is visible during the day regardless of the illumination setting. If you need to illuminate the reticle to enhance your targeting, it’s because the outside lighting is subdued. When viewed at night in conjunction with Night Vision or used at Dusk/Dawn or even in an overcast environment, an illumination of the entire reticle would be overkill and detrimental to the target area because it would wash out what you want (need) to see.”

–  I’d also like to point out that if the crosshair is too bright it could potentially damage your Night Vision Scope and interfere with your body’s natural Night Vision*. As the range increases, the size of your target area decreases, therefore the “feathered” edged illumination is an attribute, not a detriment. It would be like shining a flashlight at your face while trying to look outward into the dark. There is absolutely no reason to illuminate the outer edges of the reticle other that aesthetics.

The STEINER T-Sights are tough, compact optics especially suited for AR platforms. Due to the optional 3x, 4x or 5x magnification paired with the illuminated STEINER Rapid Dot Reticle, the user is enabled to quickly acquire fast moving targets as well as close-up targets.

The T-Sights are very short and lightweight and thanks to the rubber armoring they are increased in ruggedness. They are highly reliable, tough, shockproof, and waterproof (submersible up to 10 meters) and are fully adjustable up to +/- 50 MOA for elevation and Windage. The STEINER T-Sights are waterproof, shockproof, fog proof with fully multi-coated lenses for brightness and clarity.

Depending on the lighting conditions the Reticle can be adapted to one’s needs by selecting different modes and brightness settings: Non-illuminated, day- light, Low light and Night Vision mode for use with NV goggles. If the scope is run in any of the illuminated modes, the full Reticle is illuminated red.In the non-illuminated mode, the Reticle is black. The scope has an integral Picatinny rail on the topside for auxiliary accessories.
